If you pay taxes to the District you are entitled to reduced rates at any District facility. A photo ID can be acquired at the Trails Recreation Center for $5.00/person or $10.00/family and is valid for 3 years. A current Arapahoe County tax statement, a valid driver’s license or mail addressed to you from your utility or phone company is what we will accept to show proof of residency. Resident’s must present a current District ID card to receive District rates. Residents and non-residents purchasing a Trails pass will receive an ID card free with this purchase. Lost, stolen or damaged cards can be replaced for $5.00.
I have raised four children and was blessed to be a stay-at-home mother, home-schooled all four through 8th grade. My youngest is in high school and the other three attend college and/or have professional jobs. I thoroughly enjoy working with children in developing cognitive skills and/or loving precious babies. I took care of my parents until their death four years ago. My husband and I have been happily married for 26 years, attend church weekly, and live in Saddle Rock Ranches. I have extra time during the day and would love to help parents with their children, aging parents and pets! To me, this is the most important resource to have for raising healthy children. I am pregnant with my 2nd child and follow the extremely nutrient dense pregnancy diet from this book. I’ve also followed the food introduction schedule for my first born (3 yo now) to ensure he grows up loving and eating REAL FOOD- not crap food laced with sugar and chemicals like cereal, processed/boxed/bagged “foods”, juice, waffles, artificially colored anything, pizza, etc which gives children zero vitamins and nutrition. My son eats and loves broccoli, salmon, chicken, eggs, fruits, beans, nuts, cod liver oil, avocados, coconut oil, bone broth soups...all because of what I’ve read in this wonderful book. I truly believe because he has grown up on these nutrient dense foods and healthy fats like CLO, coconut oil and real butter, his memory is astounding (brains REQUIRE fats to function optimally!). I am constantly referring to it not just for diet, but for alternative cures for childhood sickness, how to make your home as healthy as possible, baby and child care, vaccines, supplementation, child milestones, recipes, to name a few. If you want to have a truly healthy pregnancy and child, this is the book to follow.
Some of the child rearing advice was unexpected: p. 203 "no parents can really play with their children" because they have "too much responsibility, too many disappointments, too much school learning to play" and "Don't play with your children, just do your stuff-laundry, cooking, gardening, mowing the lawn, bird watching." Perhaps the authors began writing the section to stress the importance of letting children have creative play rather than structuring all playtime with activities and parental narration, but they composed a message of 'do your chores and leave your child to do his own thing.' Again, there were no references in this brief section, though there are plenty of sources the authors could have drawn from if they had done some research.
I enjoyed reading Nourishing Traditions (NT) and have incorporated some of the information from that book into my family's diet. It also prompted me to delve into some areas of nutrition research that I hadn't read before NT. I expected this book to take a similar approach to child care (i.e. present qualitative and quantitative research, give an overview of historical trends, and present ideas from various cultures). I had high hopes for this book, since Sally Fallon was once again listed as an author, but after reading this book perhaps I should search for more from Mary Enig (the co-author of NT, but not on this book).
I am a caregiver and excited to open my home for your child. I have three children of my own, one in college, one in elementary school and a toddler, so I am very experienced with all age groups. We follow a routine that includes preschool age appropriate activities in the morning. I enjoy reading time at the library and highly encourage supervised outdoor play in my fenced backyard. I lead an active healthy lifestyle. That includes a balanced diet for the children I care for. I am a mature, patient caregiver.
Hi!! I'm Michelle!!! I have my Bachelors Degree (BA) in Early Childhood Development. I graduated in 2009. My husband and I have 3 children all who attend school. I homeschooled them prior to attending public school. I've served and taught at every age level in Children's Ministry for the past 13 years. I have also been a nanny to a sweet baby boy for the last two years. Due to relocation, I had to say goodbye to him. Children are truly my joy, and bring so much light to my life. I especially enjoy caring for newborns-toddlers. There is something so special about that age group. I hope that you will consider me when choosing a Nanny. I will always care for your child as if they were my own. If you allow me to watch your child in my home, I'll be available all day, and on weekends. In high school I was involved with sports (softball, basketball, track) was FFA vice president, and a member of the National Honor Society. After high school I received an athletic scholarship to play softball. While in college I started a physical education program at a local Lutheran Church School. The people and the children became family to me and I was offered a part time teaching assistant job working with the kindergarten class. During the summers of college I spent my time coaching softball to young girls. Over my four years of coaching we won four state titles, four regional titles, three Nationals appearances as well as an invitation to the Babe Ruth Little League World Series.
