After obtaining my degree in Human Development and Family Studies from Colorado State University in the year 2008 I moved to Denver Colorado and I am now proud to call this city my home! My first job here in Denver I worked for Knowledge Beginnings Corporation as an infant room supervisor and later became the pre-Kindergarten teacher. From this experience I gained the confidence to start my own daycare program. I now own and operate a licensed family childcare home out of my basement called Parkfield Playhouse. I am CPR and First Aid certified and do over 15 hours of continued education every year. I offer preschool curriculum and am part of a state funded food program that offers nutritional education to ensure that each child gets healthy food for each meal. I offer breakfast, am snack, lunch, pm snack and dinner.
It is hard to argue that a two year old with the proposed 1:8 adult: child ratio in a group of 24 is in a “quality” or even a safe environment.  While we are pleased with the proposal to increase the number of Registered Early Childhood Educators, research suggests that an increase in trained staff is not a trade-off for decent ratios and group sizes.  Additionally, the already-stretched, underpaid, 97% female child care workforce cannot continue to pick up the slack for massive gaps in public financing.

I barely make enough to cover daycare as it is, and that’s WITH subsidy! The ripple effect here is going to negatively impact so many. Please think of how much these changes are HURTING people who are just scraping by as it is!!!!
It is NOT a different type of license or a substitute for licensing or accreditation. The intent of the Qualistar Rating™ is to give licensed programs a measurement of quality, by star levels, and recommendations on how to improve the quality of the care they provide. Accreditation by a national accrediting agency is a separate process that has its own set of standards and validation system.
 We have had our two children (and soon to be one more) enrolled at Orchard Valley for the last 2 years and we have been very pleased. The teachers are excellent and their curriculum is top notch! Our children absolutely love to go to school. Occasionally even on the weekends they will ask, "Can we go to school today?" Each and every day is new and exciting. They do crafts, enjoy outdoor play and they are always learning something new. We have had our children at another top notch daycare center previous to this one and we left that one to come to Orchard Valley for the education that they provide. There are other more expensive programs out there. But Orchard Valley is the top for the quality of care, education, and guidance that you receive for your money. All instructors are background checked and CPR certified. If there is a problem it gets resolved immediately. I also like their no tolerance for biting as well as their discipline policies. They really work with you and your family to raise your child together as a team. Also, they do a fantastic job with potty training making it a painless process for all. This is an A++++++++++++++ organization and we have recommended it many times to our friends for their childcare needs.

My whole life has been dedicated to the care of little ones. From helping my mother when I was young with her own in home daycare, to my first babysitting jobs. I then had the opportunity to be nanny to two wonderful girls ages 3 yrs. and 4 months for about 3 years. Then, I had them pleasure of spending 3 months in Romania working with an organization called Caminul Felix. They are essentially an orphanage but rather than caring for the children until they come of age, they give them homes and families for life. There I worked with many children befriending them, teaching crafts and helping with their English. Now I have started a family of my own and desire to have my own in home daycare. Doing as my mother did before me, caring for little ones and helping fellow mothers with trustworthy and affordable childcare. P. S. In conjunction with audiometric testing, OAE testing can be completed to determine changes in the responses. Studies have found that exposure to noise can cause a decline in OAE responses. In a study, industrial workers who were exposed to 84.5 dBA of noise were compared to workers who were exposed to 53.2 dBA of noise by considering hearing thresholds and OAEs before and after 5 days of work. This study revealed that hearing thresholds and OAE results were significantly lower among the workers who were exposed to higher levels of noise.[12]
