The children at The Meadows spend at least 2 hours outside daily, we are the only school that writes this into our curriculum. We have many learning centers outside and our teachers take the curriculum that they develop outside to help engage the children in different environments. If the weather is too poor to go outside then we have an indoor playroom with a gigantic hand painted two level castle complete with slide, ball pit, dragon cave and fairy garden to engage their gross motor skill and help them burn off energy!

I must admit I am surprised that with the concept of Nourishing Traditions being about adopting traditional methods of preparing foods as observed in ultra-healthy non-western people groups, I expected the book on baby and child care to promote more traditional and indigenous ways of nurturing (not just nourishing) little ones, such as babywearing and co-sleeping. I guess we always have The Continuum Concept by Jean Liedloff for that!

If you have a child residing in your home whose non-custodial parent is not providing child support, you will be required to cooperate with Arapahoe County’s Community and Child Support Services Division in order to qualify for CCAP. Cooperation is required for all children in the household with an absent parent who are in need of child care services. The division will provide any necessary services to establish, modify or enforce a child support or medical support order. Child care assistance will be denied or terminated for all children in the home if a family fails to cooperate without good cause.
It has been found that distortion product otoacoustic emissions (DPOAE’s) have provided the most information for detecting mild hearing loss in high frequencies when compared to transient evoked otoacoustic emissions (TEOAE).[13] This is an indication that DPOAE’s can help with detecting an early onset of noise-induced hearing loss. A study measuring audiometric thresholds and DPOAEs among individuals in the military showed that there was a decrease in DPOAEs after noise exposure, but did not show a shift in audiometric threshold. This supports OAEs as predicting early signs of noise damage.[14]
Some of the child rearing advice was unexpected: p. 203 "no parents can really play with their children" because they have "too much responsibility, too many disappointments, too much school learning to play" and "Don't play with your children, just do your stuff-laundry, cooking, gardening, mowing the lawn, bird watching." Perhaps the authors began writing the section to stress the importance of letting children have creative play rather than structuring all playtime with activities and parental narration, but they composed a message of 'do your chores and leave your child to do his own thing.' Again, there were no references in this brief section, though there are plenty of sources the authors could have drawn from if they had done some research.
We are Ontario parents, educators, service providers, academics and community members. We are very concerned about some of the regulatory changes your government has proposed for child care centres. We are especially troubled by the changes to age group composition that will have the effect of reducing staff: child ratios and increasing group sizes.

Spontaneous otoacoustic emissions (SOAE)s are sounds that are emitted from the ear without external stimulation and are measurable with sensitive microphones in the external ear canal. At least one SOAE can be detected in approx. 35-50% of the population. The sounds are frequency-stable between 500 Hz and 4500 Hz to have unstable volumes between -30 dB SPL and +10 dB SPL. The majority of the people are unaware of their SOAEs; portions of 1-9% however perceive a SOAE as an annoying tinnitus.[5]

Our unique programs are based upon years of research and early childhood education experience and that is why we pride ourselves in offering both excellent academic programming as well as a variety of enrichment programs all free of charge to our children. Our schools are divided into classrooms based on age and development beginning with our state-of-the-art infant room, Little Angels for ages 6 weeks to 12 months. From there, children advance into our Transition Room - Teddy Bears ages 12 months to 18 months, Toddlers 1 - Rainbows ages 18 months to 2 years, Toddlers 2 - Sunshine ages 2 to 3 years, Preschool - Flowers ages 3 to 4 years, and Pre-K - Stars ages 4 to 5 years.

​​"Miss Laura's" has been a wonderful second home for my daughter Helena.  Helena was undergoing a rough transition this year, it being the first year she was to be cared for without big sis right by her side.  Laura has made her home feel like a second home for Helena, and she makes nutrition important for the kids which I really like.  She also follows whatever requests nutritionally that I have, and she is super careful.  Helena's big sis has a severe peanut allergy, so Laura makes sure Helena never eats peanuts because she doesn't want to risk a problem when the two girls play in the afternoon.  And I Didn't even have to ask her to do that!! That's great!  Helena is really transitioning well and I think that is because of how Laura is helping it to feel like another home. My older daughter even constantly wants to stay with"Miss Laura." - Laura
An otoacoustic emission (OAE) is a sound which is generated from within the inner ear. Having been predicted by Thomas Gold in 1948, its existence was first demonstrated experimentally by David Kemp in 1978[1] and otoacoustic emissions have since been shown to arise through a number of different cellular and mechanical causes within the inner ear.[2][3] Studies have shown that OAEs disappear after the inner ear has been damaged, so OAEs are often used in the laboratory and the clinic as a measure of inner ear health.

In high school I was involved with sports (softball, basketball, track) was FFA vice president, and a member of the National Honor Society. After high school I received an athletic scholarship to play softball. While in college I started a physical education program at a local Lutheran Church School. The people and the children became family to me and I was offered a part time teaching assistant job working with the kindergarten class. During the summers of college I spent my time coaching softball to young girls. Over my four years of coaching we won four state titles, four regional titles, three Nationals appearances as well as an invitation to the Babe Ruth Little League World Series.
